About Me
As an educational advocate for my own children, I have experience with various types of curriculum as well as learning strategies. I have been a homeschooling parent for the past 20 years. One point that I strongly emphasize is that each of us learns differently. I have taught Algebra and Science in a private school setting, but found that my passion is tutoring because I can customize learning for each individual student. As a public school and charter school tutor for over 12 years, my experience includes a strong foundation in the use of standards, outcomes, and competencies. A valuable part of my education includes a Masters in Human Services. This has given me insight into how to effectively work with diverse populations, as well as how to improve the quality of learning for vulnerable populations.
I also have a Graduate certificate in Competency-Based Instruction which has helped me to gain expertise in designing authentic assessments. This is essential to measure learning goals and to encourage student-driven learning. My role is to partner with your Education Specialist and family in order to create a successful learning experience for your student. I work with students as young as Kindergarten up to high school.
